What to expect when you book a therapy slot-attendance policy
For psychological therapy to be beneficial, we recommend regular and consistent attendance of sessions. Regular sessions will take place at the same time and day every week.
When you book a therapy vacancy, your therapist freezes this slot in their diary and holds it solely for you every week. It is like reserving a parking slot. The slot is there for you regardless of whether you use it to park your car or not.
Subsequently, missed sessions are payable in full. The full T&Cs apply even in the event of emergencies, including holidays, work commitments, illness, and other emergencies. If your insurance company pays for your sessions, please note that they will not cover the cost of missed sessions. Thus, we will invoice you directly for the cost for these sessions.
If there are occasions when you cannot be available at the time of our appointment, your therapist will try his/her best to reschedule an online session. Your therapist will require advance notice for this. Despite best intentions, it may not always be possible to reschedule the session.
There will be some planned breaks in therapy, which your therapist will let you know about in advance.
For long-term therapy (20 sessions or more), we appreciate that flexibility may be required to accommodate other commitments, holidays, etc. You could then miss a session in a block of eight sessions without being charged, providing a 48-hour notice.
To terminate therapy and release an ongoing slot, we require a 7-day notice. This notice period will allow for a final session so you can end therapy thoughtfully, recap the work you have done, and plan for the future.
Ad hoc sessions
If this is not the right time to commit to regular sessions, we may still be able to arrange some ad hoc sessions. Simply contact us saying a little bit about your current circumstances and we will get back to you.
A 48-hour cancellation policy applies for ad hoc sessions. This policy applies to holidays, work commitments, illness, and other emergencies.
Please note that we typically recommend ad hoc sessions to review your progress and well-being after a completed course of therapy or for a brief piece of work.
Regrettably, your therapist cannot always guarantee availability for ad hoc sessions during busy periods.
